    Border line rape. This book should have come with warnings. Had to skip pages to not have certain images painted in my head. Nothing about this was romantic sexy or erotic.

    This book should have trigger warnings on it cause some of the scenes are just WAY too rapey, I was deeply uncomfortable reading some of the scenes and really wish I could get them out of my head, I skipped so many pages just to not paint the scenes. Also Marist is compared to Medusa A LOT but this book just paints Marist as weak and never standing up for herself like I know she’s made a deal and she owes the Hale man but it’s like she never learned the pattern with Macalister and kept letting herself be fooled over and over again. Truly disturbed and would not recommend.

    (Spoiler alerts) I could handle the boardroom scene in the first book - slightly twisted but mostly consensual. This book really crossed over the line. The father-in-law with the vibrator and the oral sex was just too rape-y and twisted to be erotic.

  • Borderline rape and abusive scenes

    I mostly enjoyed reading the first book to this series as the writing was eloquent and storyline interesting, but in the second book it made me come to the conclusion that some scenes were borderline rape. When someone says ‘NO’ it’s NO. The author tried to make it erotic, however I started to skip large sections of this book because much of it was insane and I couldn’t stomach what was happening to the girl. I hope younger readers don’t find this romantic, the situations were very abusive and unacceptable.
